THE LONG ISLAND ENTERTAINER
February 25, thru March 3
Room for Review

TVs ALLEN FUNT invited Hewlett artist
ALYCE SIMON to exhibit
her Atomic Art technique in his
16 East 78th Street Gallery (until March 15).
The two opening cocktail
preview parties were packed with
V.I.P.’s and the art critics
who agreed that this art cannot be
talked about but must be seen to
be appreciated: It is most art-
istically displayed in utter sim-
plicity depending wholly on the art
form and the play of light. Since
every step of the way is precon-
ceived and carefully studied by a
scientific and artistic approach,
with plans and procedures perfected
before the actual design is
related to 'the plastic through
radiation’ one might expect a math-
ematical result. Not so, for the
resultant charm is both masculine
and feminine in all respects. Each
item is alive with soft lighting
effects and some adjust themselves
to subtle changes in color forms.
The actual sales were good and
demands from a variety of geo-
graphic areas for future shows
was rewarding. The artist feels
that some of the present determin-
ations which result from the radi-
ation will not change. The veinlike
or winter tree forms will stay but
cannot be predicted as to what will
arise from the possibilities in art
experimentation with nuclear sci-
ence, still an infant project. DR.
KENNARD MORGANSTERN, the
nuclear scientist, introduced ALYCE
SIMON to this field and her
work continues in his Long Island
laboratory with science media and
artistic techniques.
